Unable to use purchased license to activate Ultimate for 1 device on my android phone

Does anyone have any sage advice on how I can use a recently purchased AVG Ultimate license/key # for 1 device on my Samsung phone? I downloaded the antivirus app from the play store and once it was installed, I went through the process of upgrading it to the Ultimate version using the provided key. Once the key is entered, the app says that activation was successul though the app still shows ads again and all of the premium features show up as an upgrade option to purchase. Even trying to install AVG Cleaner on the phone and going through the same steps to use the key leads to the same outcome.
