Unauthorized attempt access protected area pop-up

The pop-up stops me to open AVG protection menu. If I click "cancel" the main screen disappear also. I did not initiate the attempt to enter the protected area of AVG!

Thank you for the screenshot.

We regret for the inconvenience caused.

Please uninstall the product from the control panel and reinstall it.

Then check for the issue again.

Refer this article for installing the program https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Download-and-install-AVG-Protection

Let us know, the status of the issue.

Let us attempt to explain this clearly, Eugene.

You're being prompted to enter Settings password. It is a feature that prevents unauthorized access of AVG program.
We're afraid as we cannot reset it. Hence, our colleague has suggested you to reinstall. However, AVG Clear tool needs to be used to uninstall the program. We do have an other option to remove a specific file on your computer to regain access to AVG program without a password.

To do so : Boot your computer in safe mode (http://https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=AVG-Restart-Windows-Safe-Mode) - Navigate to : My computer\C:\Program Data\AVG\Antivirus</b> - Locate & delete the file aswResp.dat - Restart the computer in normal mode.
Note : Program data might be hidden. To get to the folder, please type  %programdata% in runline command. To get runline command box, please press Windows logo key & R key together.

If the above step fails, we may need to reinstall using AVG Clear.

I cannot uninstall the product because when I try to do that AVG is asking for the password and if I do that then the potential threat becomes active. It is obviously a software problem with the AVG program.

Eugene, please accept our apologies.

We are glad to know that your issue has been resolved.

Please get back to us, if you still face the same issue again. We have to find the root cause of the issue.

Thank you for understanding.
