In 2016 I had AVG FREE virus protection installed on my computer. I then removed AVG from my computer and changed to McAfee and paid a yearly subscription to them.
Just this month I had to check my credit card account for something else and stumbled on a withdrawal by a company called DIGITALRIVER IRELAND on behalf of AVG. Apparently this firm had been deducting yearly subscriptions from my credit card account on behalf of AVG for 3 years without my authority.Has any one out there had this problem and can someone tell me if AVG and AVAST are the same firm.cheers Phil J

Yes, Avast acquired AVG. However, both the companies has their respective products and service.
Digital River provides eCommerce and payment services for AVG orders processed via AVG web/InaApp cart.
This payment gateway was added recently.
I am not able to find a subscription under your (*****@outlook.com.au) email address.
Hence, sent you an email for you to provide the possible email address associated with AVG and the screenshot of bank statement that shows the charge deduction for AVG.
If my email is not found in inbox do check in spam and junk folders.
