Hello C P
Sorry to hear that. AVG program will not reboot your computer automatically unless the user given permission. It might restart after running the scan . So, please check the scan settings and uncheck https://help.avg.com/en/avg_free/17/settings_task.html#settings_report the option "restart after the scan complete"
Thank you.
Has anyone else has problems with AVG performing system reboots against User wishes?
I'm running Windows 10/64-bit and have a copy of AVG Free installed. Earlier today I had powered up my PC and set it to work on a computation that takes hours [literally] to run.
I went to my kitchen to make myself a hot drink, came back, and my system had rebooted. When I unlocked the machine with my Windows Password, I received a confirmatory note that the system had been rebooted to permit AVG to complete it's installation process. At no point in time did I agree to allow AVG to reboot my system. I had multiple tasks running in the foreground.
It would be really helpful to know if this could happen again; I often leave systems un-attended for overnight mass-compute work.
This isn't a complaint - I'm running the free edition of AVG so accept that I "get what I'm given", but in the case of this specific event, it strikes me that the behavior of AVG Free - i.e. having the ability to forcibly reboot a system without user intervention - is a bit dangerous.
Any information on whether this is a one-off or standard practice would be appreciated.
Thank you.
