I downloaded the Sysinfo app and ran it… It said it was working for about 2 minutes then it rebooted the PC. I tried it again and it failed at the same point. Maybe something is wrong with the PC or hard disk. I'll probably need to rebuild the PC and take the opportunity to put windows 10 on it.

I am having an identical problem to you when trying to chnage my AVG to latest version. Did you ever relove your issue? Your are the only person I can see online who has the exact prolems I have. I also have Windows XP SP3 and identical error messages as you. AVG support couldn't do anything.

I am trying to reinstall AVG free on my Windows XP SP3 PC. I have the same problems as item posted as answers?id=906b00000008rzAAAQ.
I have downloaded and run the uninstall as per the link and removed everything I can find on the POC that references AVG.Following advfice on different posts I have tried installing with version numbers 1005, 694, 695 and again today with 698. Every time I get the same error Unexpected error oxc007001d we've run into a problem during installation. One post referenced microsoft KB 315346 but when I go to that link I just get a blank page and no information on it.
I have spent a day on this so far and have got nowhere so far except to remove AVG. Can you provide any advice as to what I can try now.Thanks

1)Click this link http://www.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_SysInfo.exe to download the AVG SysInfo tool.
2) Run the downloaded tool.
3) Click Accept to confirm the license agreement, and then click Continue.
