Hello Andy,

You can use AVG remover tool as mentioned here to remove old AVG version traces.
However, using this may also affect the functionality of the new version.
Hence, you can simply uninstall the new version of AVG Antivirus from control panel as mentioned here and then run the remover tool.

I have purchased AVG Internet Security to replace my AVG Antivirus and now keep getting messages to renew my AVG Antivirus subscription. Which files do I uninstall to remove the old Antivirus but not interrupt my AVG Internet Security?

Okay, then it is necessary to run both the tools (remover & clear) to remove the traces.
Once that is done, proceed with the installation.

Thanks - but trying to uninstall using the contol panel gives the message "Unexpected Error. Sorry we have run into a problem during installation. (Error Code: 0xe0010058)
