Uninstall free mac AVG virus then reinstall

1) Open Finder
2) In menu bar select GO > GO TO FOLDER
3) Type: /Library/Application Support/
4) Locate and delete AVGAntivirus folder manually and then reinstall should work

Hello,

I am getting a error message as I am reinstalling a New version free AVG.  It is telling me to first uninstall  my older one!  I can not find it, any advice.  Older Mac 2011 Running HighSierra it worked for ever.  Now it won't ley me…
