We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.
This AVG scan freezing at 1% is a known issue and we can fix it easily.
Since you have tried uninstalling, we request you to completely remove the traces using the AVG Remover tool and then install AVG free antivirus.
1) To download AVG remover tool, please click on this link: http://aa-download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe
2) Run the downloaded file and follow the onscreen instructions.
3) Restart your PC when the restart option is displayed on the remover tool screen.
NOTE: Once you have logged into your PC after the restart, please go to C: drive and delete the "AVG REMOVER" folder manually.

Please let us know the status of the scanning after installing the program.

I have been using the Free Edition. Recently I noticed the scan freezes at the very beginning.I tried repairing it but a unexpected error occurs, same when uninstalling. And finally i tried installing, but that failed too.
Error code 0xc0070426
General error (0x0426)

Been using this free edition for long time. Updates daily. Never any problems till last few days.
