Not sure if anyone from AVG will read this or if anyone cares. If they do I already know what the answer will be...
I have a BRAND NEW 10 day old Alienware 17 inch, i7, 16 Gb Ram, top of the line laptop. I had Performance Pro trial running. It had a pop up that I had 14 days, 13, 12, etc. So this morning with 9 days to go, I attempted to upgrade. The Zen desk said to install AVG AntiVirus protection free version. So I clicked it. MY MISTAKE!!!!
Started installing, got 92% and I got the blue screen of death!! Really?
So it rebooted, came back up and I had NO INTERNET connection. It said it was connected but no email, webpages, nothing. I rebooted 4 times, still nothing. So did a system restore to yesterday's settings and got internet back.
If I didn't know enough to do a system restore I'd be screwed here.
Chatted and then called tech support. The best I got was we'll charge you $20 to help with the install. Really? YOUR software crashed my new computer and I have to pay to fix YOUR problem. I don't think so!
So after 2 hours on the laptop and almost an hour on the phone, I'M DONE! Going to AVAST and never trying AVG again. AND I'M TELLING EVERYONE I CAN HOW AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE IS!!
Good luck all! Backup your pc before it crashed from this quality software.
