Unknown error when trying to update AVG free

Karthikeyan can u send me that email because I have the same problem with my AVG.

Thank you both very much for your suggestions - I have checked the connections and I only have WiFi connected and this is connected ok. I have run the AVG remover tool, restarted my laptop, cleared browsing data and then tried to update AVG and I am still getting the same errors, see below screenshot for virus definition and program errors:

I'm afraid I have already tried this and I had problems uninstalling (had to uninstall in safe mode and use the clear tool) then problems reinstalling (had to use the offline installer in the end) and I still get the update failure error message I want to continue using AVG but it is becoming impossible. My operating system is Windows 10 and my laptop is not a year old yet. I would be grateful if you have any other suggestions? Thanks.

Hello, I am having trouble updating AVG - I keep getting an unknown error. I am using the windows firewall. I have checked that my internet connection is fully functioning and that my internet settings are correct. Are you able to help please? Thanks.

I would like to understand more about the situation. Have you tried with AVG Clear and remover tool to uninstall and reinstall AVG Antivirus Free? David, AVG update should happen regardless the type of internet connection on your PC.
Connect back to WIFI and check whether you are able to update AVG.

I had the same issue with it not updating.
Checking the Adaptor settings found I had two connections active, Ethernet and WIFI.
The WIFI connection was not connected.
When I disabled the WIFI connection I was able to update AVG again.
I had not activated the WIFI connection so can only assume it got activated during the last windows update…

Thank you for your message Ranjani I have tried disabling and then enabling the connection and restarting my laptop and I have tried using the DNS addresses you suggested but unfortunately this hasn't worked I still get the same update failure message. Thanks.
