Unknown Error when updating definitions

Hello Grant,

We appreciate your efforts on resolving this issue. We suggest you to use our AVG clear and AVG remover tool (http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-troubleshoot-issues-after-upgrade-to-the-latest-AVG-antivirus-product) and then remove AVG Internet Security or AVG Anti Virus program and its traces and then try to reinstall and check the issue.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled/repaired so many times, yet I cannot get the latest definitions; "Unknown Error" keeps showing up when I try to get the latest definitions. Please help.
