Jack, I've experienced the same problem with AVG, they took money from my credit card in which I had no control over, in order to correct this problem you must cancel the card you have AVG listed to make recurring payments to. Since it is impossible to talk with a human being in AVG they will continue to take your money unless you cancel the card on their file.

Good Evening,

I am aware this may not be the right place to put a Formal Complaint but after being provided a false link by customer services to complain and then being cut off before I could finish our online chat I feel I have no other option.

I cancelled my services with AVG 2 years ago now however a pending transaction appeared on my account today for a yearly subscription amount. From speaking with an online assistant it was confirmed that I do not have any current subscriptions with AVG and that no payment could be found for my account. Although it was offered for my issue to be escalated I was advised, with no recognition for the issue a payment from an account could cause, there was a 7-10 day timeframe and no understanding was provided for my concern about this and the advisor became condescending and rude. To which I asked for the Formal Complaints process and a link to a regular feedback form was provided after which I was asked if they could help further but signed off the chat before I could respond.

To make matters worse upon contacting my bank they have confirmed that this has been set up as a reoccurring yearly subscription.

From searching online it does not appear I am the only person to have suffered this catastrophic error and I would advise others to be aware that this is not just a one off payment being requested from our banks so ensure you ask your bank to cancel all future payments. This however will not resolve the initial payment being requested and I am having to wait for AVG to find out how they have managed to take an unlawful payment from a confirmed closed subscription and then deal with the refund. I would also query how long bank details are held onto following a cancelled subscription.

I did ask who I could speak to to resolve this issue sooner and no offer of a manager or superior was made. To say I am disgusted, as someone who isn't even a customer, is an understatement from a company deemed previously to be very trustworthy.

Hello Mike,

We're sorry to hear that you feel that way. The experience you shared, is not the intended experience we wanted for you to have had.
If you want us check the status of your account and subscriptions, to make sure that they're not enrolled for auto-renewal, please write back to us in your own/new post, so that we can locate your account, obtain further details and help you accordingly.
Thank you for understanding in advance!
