Thank you.

I know AVG has to sell its paid product to stay alive, but the notices at the end of a smart scan seem awfully silly. Some weeks it recommends private browsing, which others do not. Some weeks it tells me that my documents (.doc) aren't encrypted beyond the defaults, which is fine with me. (You'd have to have broken into my computer already to see them, and what will you find other than what I've written for work of no interest to you?)

Maybe the most irksome, though, is the notice of unnecessary programs slowing my system. First, none of them are resident; they don't start up on their own, and I check services and startups regularly. More important, they amount to such things as my browser, my pdf reader, Photoshop, and Office. That's how work gets done! What do you use your laptop for, games?

Thank you for writing back to us, John.

We understand your concern and apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you.
From your description, we assume that you've been receiving adverts for our AVG TuneUp product. AVG TuneUp is an optimization tool that includes a range of scans to detect unnecessary items and performance issues, freeing up disk space and improving the speed of your system.
Many of our users find these offers useful, they rely on them to upgrade to our higher levels of protection. By doing so, they help fund your free version of the protection. But we do understand the repeated appearance of the same message is frustrating and we are working to improve your experience.
If you're not interested in purchasing AVG TuneUp, please skip/ignore the performance issues window and the purchase prompt.
Thank you for understanding in advance!

I'll be happy to, although not today. Odd request, though. After all, this is AVG acting as designed and as normal, not unusual behavior. Surely you can't be familiar with it without knowing what it means by "performance issues."
