Automatic renewal is a process of adding days to the existing subscription.
Managing the subscription (automatic renewal) has no impact on the program. You'll be able to use the program till it expires.
As we're uncertain about the exact notification that you receive, would you be so kind to share us the screenshot of it for better clarity?

I was reviewing my AVG products recently and decided not to be on automatic renewal.So I could decide when the time came. Now I discover that because I "unsubscribed" I can't access those two programs without getting ads that I need to renew. How do I go back and renew the subscriptions without having to pay again. Seems strange that something I've paid for is unavailable because of the desire not to auto renew.
