Untrusted network

Hi  I wasn't quite sure where this should go group wise.
At the beginning of the year I bought an AVG subscription. I was having problems accessing some sites, some government based as it said something like I had a dodgy connection.  I've now resolved that issue but I'm getting an alert 'untrusted network' and that my ISP is not protected.  
I have no idea what this means, can any experts explain why this is and what I should do.
