The scan is designed in the way to completely check your computer.
However, if you want to run only virus scan, click on settings next to "Scan Computer" and select "Whole Computer scan".
Shut down option after scan is not available in the latest version.
You can send your feedback on AVG products from the interface. Click on "Menu->About->Submit feedback".

Why do I have to attend AVG scanner to go from Browser to Virus… scan. Scanner in manual mode should do all scans selected automatically and then be able to shut down computer when finished. Where did the Shut Down upon completion button go?
