Thanks Alan and Aaron!  Both for quick replies and helpful advice.  I've now cleaned 1503 bits of malware off the computer … I think it came in attached to an Adobe Flash update that didn't load properly and that might be why.  At least it's all gone now and I've added a spyware package to my AVG coverage.

Somehow Binkiland Search got through the AVG firewall, installed itself and is now the default toolbar so I've lost the one with all my fav links.  I also don't want the ads.  Tried to uninstall but AVG blocked the uninstallation action.  Now what do I do?
