This shouldn't happen unless you have an extremely slow download internet speed connection.
We have released a new version 20.1 for AVG Internet Security. 
We request you to perform repair of AVG Internet Security as mentioned in this article and check the program version. Once it is updated to 20.1, perform virus definitions and inform the status.

my update for outdated virus definitions has been running for 4 hours. Is that o.k.?
I use Windows 10.
