Update fail, 'avgmfapx.exe has encountered a problem'

Hello Alison. Sorry for the inconvenience caused. I would request you to follow the below mentioned instructions once:

1) First step is to use AVG Remover tool and uninstall your AVG program completely. To download AVG Remover Tool please click on the following link:For 32-bit: http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/support/avg_remover_stf_x86_2015_5501.exe
For 64-bit: http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/support/avg_remover_stf_x64_2015_5501.exe
2) Run the downloaded tool and follow the instructions displayed on your screen.

Upgraded AVG in June, since mid July the update fails with the following message:
avgmfapx.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close
For more information:
szAppName : avgmfapx.exe     szAppVer : 0.0.0.0       szModName : avgmfapx.exe
szModVer : 0.0.0.0     offset : 004336b1
Technical information then shows two Temp files.
If I try to uninstall I get the same message.  Also tried downloading AVGs tune up and fix but nothing.
