Update failing - claims installation is running

I can't get updates to complete.  Error message says: "Update detected running installation. Complete that installation before starting update."  Nothing is running on computer though.  How do I get this to update?  Delete AVG and reinstall?  I'm running AVG version 2015.0.6140.  Last update was 9/29/15.
