Update has detected a running installation

As of right now I am not currently at this computer and will try this again, but I did try uninstalling AVG to reinstall the AVG free version, but it would not let me do anything because it kept saying "update has detected a running installation.  Please complete this installation first before proceeding."  And then I'd get an error code.

As a result, I do not think it will let me reinstall.  But as I said, I will check this out when I get home from work.

For the past few weeks now whenever I turn on my computer it tells me that my Free AVG software is out of date.  I click to update it and it says that there is already another installation in progress.  I followed the directions given on this site and have my task manager opened up.  There were three Windows Installers in progress.  I was able to delete two of them, but cannot delete the third one.  As a result, I am unable to do anything with AVG.  I cannot download any other virus protection program either.  What else do I need to do?

If not, please do uninstall: http://avgread.me/1DEtNP0 and reinstall: http://avgread.me/1bsCjtC, then check whether you are able to update it without any issues.

It still will not let me uninstall AVG.  I am currently trying to use AVG Remover…it's been running for almost 12 hours!  All it says is "working, please wait."  It has not restarted or anything yet.  I found the AVG program and apparently this was updated on March 17, 2017…that's about how long I've kep getting the "update not working etc." message…maybe that's the issue…

I am getting very frustrated here as I have been without any antivirus protetction for almost a month.
