Update has detected running installation (Windows 10)

I was able to finally remove AVG after finding and removing a Trojan.  Will attempt to install AVG again.

I ran AVG remover tool.  It says that AVGwd is unstoppable.  Tried 32 and 64 bit.

Ended the AVG  tasks that I could end in Task Manager.  Nothing works.  Can I leave AVG there and download another antivirus? Use Windows Defender? Will AVG continue running with yesterday's update even if I have another antivirus downloaded?
