Thank you for the information. Could you please let us know whether you have uninstalled and reinstalled AVG or not and the status of your issue?
I keep getting this message:
Update Failed - Update has detected running installation .Complete that installation before starting update.
I'm not running any installation…
what do I need to do?

thanks for the reply - I checked Task Manager - and there is nothing showing Windows Installer or msiexec.exe running .
I'll probably just have to uninstall and re-install AVG.
