Update of virus bases is blocked by the Windows Firewall

Hi Carlitto,

We're glad to look into this & help you.
Initially, please clarify whether it is possible to disable Windows firewall temporarily, which will byepass the virus definition update.
You can also try changing the DNS settings on your computer once to check if it helps.

Hello guys. It is the OP again. Please, please stop using this icarus.exe and vps/tmp folders for virus data bases updates. You changed the approach back to the instup.exe updater which was always in the same folder. Now in 23.8.8416.439 version you start using icarus.exe updater approach with the constantly changing lcation on drive C:\ again. (see my original post - "It is not possible to tune windows firewall so that it allows icarus.exe from any location. This means that on the systems where there is a strict rule set or any modification of the firewall rules is restricted, virus databases are destined to be out of date. "). Can you please use an exe file which is responsible for downloading updates in a permanent folder again?

Hello. I am using 23.1.7883.0 AVG free. As fas as I understand the file named icarus.exe is the process which responsible for updating virus data bases. The problem is that each time when AVG is trying to update virus signatures, AVG creates a separate temp dir in C:\Program Files\Common Files\AVG\Icarus\avg-av-vps\temp.… , than copies this file into this dir and launches this file from that new location. It is not possible to tune windows firewall so that it allows icarus.exe from any location. This means that on the systems where there is a strict rule set or any modification of the firewall rules is restricted, virus databases are destined to be out of date. Is there any way to solve this issue by making icarus.exe use a permanent location?
