Update Problem: '.bin file missing' Error

Hi Alan,

Many thanks for that - it worked. I downloaded the two large files with the Virus definitions and the 'All necessary modules' and that solved the Computer side. Then the much smaller link scanner file sorted the Web protection box. All green again now thankfully

I have AVG Internet Security (with a two year licence) installed on a 64 bit Dell running Windows 7.

Recently an alert has arisen advising that there's a .bin file missing when AVG tries to update. I couldn't resolve this using the advice in the FAQ (delete temporary files) so I decided to uninstall and reinstall. When I ran the downloaded installation file I very quickly got the following error:

'avg installation Installation failed. (OxEO018DO6)'

I subsequently ran the AVG remover and did manage to get it reinstalled.
Unfortunately, however, I am now back at square one with the .bin file missing and the same alerts saying Computer Update Required and Web Update Required in red. This computer has been running AVG for many months before this problem arose. No major new software installed. No other anti-virus programs running. Any ideas?

Martin, Have you tried this?.. Have a look @ this article (http://avgclick.me/UpdateAVG) [B. Updating AVG offline].
