George, AVG 2015 install files are now no longer available on the AVG website. Support for older AVG versions is gradually being terminated. For info have a look @ this AVG article (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlName=End-of-support-of-old-AVG-products&q=old).
AVG Guru
I have multiple machines and they are all Windows XP sp2, and they will NOT support sp3. I have AVG 2015-Free on all of them and none of them will contact the update servers.
"Update Manager: Sorry, we couldn't reach our update server. Please make sure you are connected to the internet and try again"
This is on multiple machines, so it is not the settings.
I have searched the internet, and read everything on this site having to do with this issue.
I have also tried to find the server to manually update, but there is a problem there too. I get to the site where the update files are, and there is a notice that says these files are NOT for the "free" versions. There is a link (www.free.avg.com) there that is supposed to take you to the correct files (as I read it), but it takes you to (a redirect) a page to download AVG 2016 instead.
I suspect that this is an issue similar to what happened in 6~7 of 2015 with the security of the server or there is a redirect that is making it fail.
Regardless, is there any help for this issue? I might be able to budget better equipment for next year, but I need what I have functional for right now.
George,
As you have already visited our offline updates page and saw that the updates for free version is included only in the latest setup file that is 2016 version. So, you have to download and run the AVG Anti Virus free 2016 setup to install it and have the latest updates.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to install 2016 version on Windows XP SP2.
George,
We also request you to consider to upgrade your OS to SP3 to install latest version of AVG. Appreciate your understanding, thank you.
Please understand:
My hardware WILL NOT SUPPORT SP3.
The "support article" referenced in the first response notes that up through 2014 is no longer supported, so 2015 SHOULD be still supported. If it is not, please say so. I need a solution, if I have to look elsewhere, let me know.
I don't need the install files for 2015, just what would be the "updates" that the program would normally use to refresh the virus definitions. I have the 2015 version running on the machines now.
