I have followed the instructions in that article but I still cannot update. My AVG virus definitions are now woefully out of date.
I may have to install Kaspersky.

I'm getting "Update failed"
"Sorry, we couldn't reach our update server. Please make sure you are connected to the internet and try again."
I am connected to the internet, including the Firfox window where I'm typing this message. This problem first appeared about two weeks ago, and I have rebooted my computer several times since then.
I am using a Linksys firewall/router, model BEFSX41 version 2.1, Firmware Version 1.52.16
I have not made any changes to the router. I doubt this router supports IPv6. Has AVG recently changed to requiring IPv6 for updates?
Has the protocol changed? NAT routers can be protocol-sensitive.
Is there any other change that might be affecting my ability to get updates?
