Updated to AVG 2015 Free and now email scanner fails

Joyson, after posting this, I found that there were a number of others with the same problem. I uninstalled the 2015 version and tried to reinstall the 2014 that I'd been using. Unfortunately that installer started to install the 2015 version. So my solution was to install Avast. I find that it handles the emails without having to do anything special so I'll just run with that until I find a reason to switch back. (Sorry, I've been using AVG for many years.)

I've been using the free AVG 2014 with incoming email scanning without problem. I updated today to AVG 2015 and the email scanning is now failing. Everything is still configured correctly in both AVG and my client (Thunderbird). I've double and triple checked everything.

Basically, I see in the T-bird status that it is connecting to 127.0.0.1… and clears in a couple seconds, but no emails come to the client. Same symptom whether I turn AVG email scanning on or off. There are no error messages, just no emails seen.
