I was able to solve my problem by adding the application "ActSage.exe" to the AVG exception list. Everything is now working perfectly.

I've the same problem. I add the exception as suggested but problem still remain. Any other suggestion?
Got prompted to update AVG-free yesterday. Updated to 2015.0.6081 then restarted. My ACT! 2012 (formerly a Sage product) now won't start up. Clicking the shortcut does nothing. No error dialog, no splash screen. In Task Manager, "ActSage.exe" pops up in the list momentarily under the Processes tab. The ACT! people said this is a known problem and requires "exceptions" in AVG. Help!!!
