Updates to Anti Virus not working after Windows 10 install

I upgraded my PC to Windows 10 and now I can no longer download updates to the package, I keep getting an error message saying that an installation is already in progress and that needs to be completed first. But there is nothing installing. I also have the same problem trying to update iTunes as well. I have contacted Microsoft, but they are saying it is an AVG issue. Any suggestions?
