Updating AVG free version

I am sorry to hear that the AVG shows as "Out of date". This issue might have caused due to a corrupted or failed update from AVG. Why when I update AVG free version when it tells me that it is out of date does AVG download and install a different trial version version of the the full product.  This is potentially fraudulent .
