Let's temporarily disable your AVG programs & check if the issue persists.
Please refer to this article to temporarily disable your AVG Internet Security & refer to this article to temporarily disable your AVG AntiTrack.
To disable your AVG Secure VPN, please click on the slider button available in the main/home window of AVG Secure VPN.

Just a quick question, is there any chance my AVG is interfering with the windows update process as my laptop will not complete the task , I have the full paid version and it's a HP laptop , if any further details are required please feel free to ask.
