Upgrade to AVG Ultimate two days ago has been a disaster

I updated two days ago and installed all the components of AVG Ultimate on My Intel MacBook Pro and Windows 10 Virtual machine that uses Parallels.  All my software is up to date.  The result was a complete disaster.  Suddenly my email and all browsers refused to function and lots of other actions kept timing out.  I got continual requests from Google and Microsoft to verify my access to the internet.

As I struggled with this over two days, the only solution I can find is to totally uninstall all my AVG products on both my MAC and Parallels virtual machines.  After two days I am stable again but have no protection now on my MAC and old protection that will expire in two weeks on my Windows virtual machines.  The uninstall process was ridiculously slow and painful.  There seem to have been similar prior issues but I am not seeing any useful suggestions to get my new AVG software installed without wrecking my work and pleasure computer activities.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
