For better clarity, share us the screenshot of the threat notification & let us know when (at what instance) you receive the notification. 
Also, let us know the version of AVG that is installed on your computer (Open AVG - Menu - About).

Hello, I have run AVG numerous times, reinstalled chrome and it still comes up. Have also reset all my passwords. What else can I do to get rid of the threat other than to reinstall and reset the entire laptop?

process: windows\system32\svchost.exe
[seems to be in multple places: chrome.exe (despite uninsall and reinstalling chrome) , AVG TuneupUI.exe and AVGUI.exe]
