Please let us know what happens exactly while installing USB drives or card reader. Do you receive any error message?
If so, share us the screenshot of it for better clarity.

I solved the problem by completely removing AVG, all the programs and using the AVG cleaner. Then I removed all the USB devices and using Mouse Keys in Ease of Access uninstalled but did not delete the drivers all of the entries under Universal Serial Bus Controllers in the Device Manager.

Removing all the entries under Universal Serial Bus did not bring joy until avgArDisk.sys was removed. I rebooted Windows 7 and with all the drivers from the system board maker and or Microsoft still in place Plug and Play reinstalled the USB drivers and USB devices with removable data such as thumb drives and digital camera memory card readers worked as they should.

Finally I reinstalled AVG protection and the problem has not reappeared. I'm fairly sure avgArDisk.sys was the problem. I don't see that it has been reinstalled. It may have been an old driver left behind by and old version of AVG software. I can't be sure but the problem is gone and I've reinstalled AVG protection.

USB flash drives and a digital camera card reader fail to install. I would have rolled back the driver but that option is grayed out. I reinstalled AVG Free but that didn't help.

I believe the purpose of avgArDisk.sys is to initiate a scan of media that is installed for virus and malware.

Searching the net and this community yielded nothing relevant.
