Hi Robert,
There are possibilities for the other antivirus to corrupt the AVG files, which could also result in UI issue.
In this regard, we'd suggest you to remove McAfee & then perform a clean installation of AVG again.
You can uninstall AVG using AVG Clear tool & then install AVG Free Antivirus as suggested by our colleague in the previous post.
Regarding step 3, you'll get it when the program is installed & the interface is loaded.
Hi Robert,
We are sorry to hear this.

Let us uninstall the program using AVG Clear tool and reinstall it again.
Use the following link for downloading the AVG Clear tool https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/AVG2017/AVG_Clear.exe
Run the file and when you get AVG clear window loading, you will get a prompt with Yes and No option. Click on "No" and then select "Uninstall" to proceed with the removal.
Restart the PC when the prompt appears and then install AVG Antivirus free as mentioned in this article https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Install-AVG-AntiVirus-Free
