User Profile recovered AVG stopped working

Hi Alan,
I am sorry to hear about that. I would suggest you to repair AVG to fix the inactive components in AVG. To repair your AVG please follow these instructions:

Go to Start -> Control Panel.
Note: Click Settings first if Control Panel is not available in the Start menu.
Open (Programs) -> Programs and Features, or Add or Remove Programs.
Select AVG Internet Security/Protection in the list of programs.
Click the Change or Change/Remove button.
Select Repair.
Follow the instructions on your screen to complete the installation.
Restart your computer.

HI,

Thanks for your info regarding scheduled scans.

However when I set one up it seemed to be under the auspices of 'AVG Free' which your colleagues' earlier download instruction and link seemed to have loaded - not my fully licensed 'AVG Internet Security' valid until this coming August.

So after I set my schedule up, the 'Scan' feature turned 'Red' saying that my 'Free' licenese had expired.

How do I replace this with my fully licenesed scan etc. software please ?

Dear Avinash,
Thanks again for you follow-up advice to use the AVG 'Clear' tool but it too failed with the message that it will not work if AVG 2016 or older is installed and recommended using  ww-en/utilities to uninstall everything.

However as I tried to run it, I heeded the warning that it should only be used if the regular MS 'Uninstall / Reinstall' option didn’t work.

So please advise whether I should risk using the 'utilities' or the 'Uninstall' option

Regards,

Alan

My User Profile failed the Logon as it could not be loaded.
Windows recovery from recent update backups was ineffective so I had to follow MS instructions to recover by renaming the .bak file to the live one
I was able to log on successfully and access my User files but AVG protection went to 'Red' and scans etc wont work. I tried to 'reactivate' it which was unsuccessful

Is there anything I can try before I  uninstall and ReInstall AVG ?
You are most welcome, Alan.
In this case, I recommend you to get our additional support to activate your product for which an email instruction has been sent.
If the email is not found in inbox, do check in spam and junk folders once.
Dear Avinash,
Many thanks for your prompt and helpful reply.
Unfortunately the ‘Repair’ failed with the following messages :

‘Repair Failed –General Error(0x0781)
Error 0xC0070781’

Kind Regards,
Alan Harris

Alan, I appreciate your efforts in trying to fix the issue. I would suggest you to uninstall AVG 2016 program completely using AVG remover tool first  http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-uninstall-AVG .

Then download and run AVG Clear tool: https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/AVG2017/AVG_Clear.exe . This tool will help with removing antivirus component of AVG 2017 and its traces.
Open tool
User Account control - click "Yes"
Windows safe mode - click "No" (we cannot recommend use the tool in safe mode, because there is a problem with compability)
Choose installed version (AVG Free, AVG Internet Security)
Click "Uninstall"
Click "Restart computer".
