Harold,
Let's check if your Network Profile is set to Private, open AVG Internet Security -> Menu at the top right -> Settings -> Components -> firewall -> customize -> system rules -> make sure all the task has been enabled.
Again, Firewall -> Customize -> Network Profiles -> change all the profiles from public to Private.
If the issue persists, go to Components -> Web Shield -> Customize -> uncheck " Enable HTTPS Scanning" and check if it resolved the issue.
Web Shield has blocked almost all web sites except for those from Google when I am connected to a public network at a resort. How can I get Web Shield protection back while still surfing valid, safe web sites?
Thanks for your response. I had already determined that the issue was not related to the firewall as I had disabled it, and used the windows firewall. (Note: Changing the networks to Private is not permanent as AVG must take them from the settings in Windows.)
I had also disabled web scanning and HTTPS scanning in web shield to no avail. I did find however, that connecting the AVG VPN solved the problem. The problem is repeatedly created and resolved without fail by disconnecting and reconnecting the VPN. Hmmm… this was previously not the case!
We appreciate your efforts, Harold.
Public network will always have certain restrictions, connecting via VPN or secured network might resolved the issue. Regarding your firewall settings, we will take it as a feedback and cascade to concern team. We are here if you need further assistance.
