The update issue is a known one and to resolve it, please reinstall AVG Antivirus program.

To install AVG Antivirus free, follow the instructions as mentioned (here).

I have AVG Free. I have been unable to update the definitions on 3 of my devices for 3 days now. One of my devices is a laptop with with Windows Vista. The other 2 are tablets with Windows 10. It starts to update, and about 5 or 6 seconds it says invalid signature file and process is terminated.
