Virus Definitions Not Updating Since December 31,2013

Hello, Jason.
I regret for any inconvenience this may have caused. Could you provide a screenshot ( http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot ) of the warning message? Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions to upload the screenshot.
You could try to reset AVG app to resolve the issue. To do so, navigate to the location mentioned below.
Device Menu -> Settings -> Apps/Application Management -> AVG Antivirus -> Tap on clear cache and clear data -> Force stop the app once.

I recently had a scan done on my phone and it resulted in the virus definitions being reported as out-of-date.  This is the first time that they have been out-of-date since installing the app.  But, when I tap on the option to resolve it, nothing seems to happen.  I go to the Update section and it shows the definitions are current as of December 31, 2013.  When I check the logs, it reports that the definitions are up-to-date.  But this error won't resolve because something is not updating the definition version in the app.  I have un-installed the app and re-installed.  When that didn't fix, I uninstalled again and have not yet attempted to re-install.  What is causing the definitions to not update but report t the activity logs that the definitions are up-to-date?

Jason, this is a followup regarding the virus definitions out of date on AVG for Android. Our developers are aware of this and confirmed an update will be released soon with a fix. Meanwhile, I ensure your device is protected and request you to keep the auto-update of apps is enabled in Google play store. Click on this link https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/113412?hl=en for instructions to enable it if you have not already.

Once the fix is rolled out, you will get a notification and the AVG app will be updated automatically. After updating AVG app, restart your device and check for the status.
Thank you for your understanding!
