Your instructions would probably work for Windows 7 if I was still using it.
Should I try to uninstall and then reinstall AVG?
My AVG Virus definitions are out of date and I keep pressing the update button and it keeps saying Virus definitions are out of date. I shut my computer off and rebooted it and the same. I'm all paid up and the license number is valid and my settings are correct and yet it keeps telling me the Virus definitions are out of date.
What do I do?

It looks like the updated Java file took care of the problem. The AVG pop-up finally shows that my AVG is up to date.

Robert, manually installation of update file is not available in the latest version. We request you to click on Menu > Settings > Update. Then click on 'Update' against 'Virus definitions'.
If the update issue persists, please click on 'Modify' against AVG Internet Security in control panel to repair the setup.

I just now updated my Java program but that did not help.
I searched the AVG Update web page and it lists a new update file.
Should I download that file directly and execute it?
