Virus scan on Ext hard drive

Hello David.
Are you using a free version of AVG?
We'd request you to cancel the scan and run again. If the issue persists, please share a screenshot (https://bit.ly/2VCi46D) of the scan progress bar.

I click on the 3 dots to the right of the MAc scan, then select the name of the ext hard drive under "file Scan" and it begins.    I still am unable to get to an active screen after clicking on the "mountain" choice of attaching a file. It remains greyed out and inactive so I am unable to attach a screen shot of what I"m doing and seeing.

Thank you…

I did what you said.  I shut down my computer, restarted, and restarted the scan of the ext. hard drive.  It has now been running for 3 hours and is still stuck at 13%.  It does appear to be scanning but is taking forever.    When I stopped the initial scan at 21%, it did say that I have over 4,000 issues and asked if I wanted to correct them, which I did.  When I click on the mountain to attach the screenshot, it is not active and is all greyed out, so I cannot attach that.

So, I'm thinking that this just won't work on my external hard drive and I should give up.  What do you think?

Thanks,

Dave

I am trying to scan one half of my partitioned 2 TB ext hard drive  (or one terrabyte) .  I've had this running for over 24 hours and it says it has scanned only 20% of the drive. Is this normal and how long should it take to complete a scan like this?  Shall I just keep this going for days or weeks? Thanks.

David

I have sent you an email asking the screenshot, David
Please check & revert to us for further queries.

I have a 2015 MacBook Air. IOS version 11.2.1.  I am still unable to attach any screenshot or to copy and paste into this message.

Appreciate your efforts in working towards fixing the issue, David.
Please let us know the type of scan with which you're experiencing this issue & the version of your MAC.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.   Yes, this is the free version for the MAc.  I've tried to attach a screenshot, but it will not load.  It just says that it is 21% done.  After 6 hours, it just went to 21%, so at this rate it will take a week or more.

I haven't canceled the scan yet, pending your reply.

Thanks so much.

David
