Initially, you can be rest assured that your computer would be protected against emerging threats & hackers, with AVG Internet Security installed.
From your description, it seems that the issue might be with the USB ports or connectivity.
Please clarify whether the external devices (drives) are displayed in File explorer & the files in it are not visible or the external drives itself are not displayed in explorer.
Meanwhile, please remove the external drives, restart your computer once & then reconnect after the system boots (after 5 minutes) to check.
I have a external hard drive (2Gb) and a Pen drive (160Gb) with a lot of files, however they are not showed by Explorer.
Browsing the internet I knew that is a Virus that make this happen, and I have to introduce a specific instruction in DOS using the CMD command and even that some files do not appear
Why AVG did not blocked this virus ?
