VirusScan needs "Wakeup Sleeping Computer" Scheduler option

Alan,

I appreciate that you replied to my question about: VirusScan needs "Wakeup Sleeping Computer" Scheduler option.

I'm new to this forum so please forgive me if I've misssed something but I'm confused about this reply from you:

When I followed the link I expected to see an "article" pertaining to my question.  However, the link took me to a "questionaire" about my usage and what appears to be personal profile information.

However, since there was a box that had a caption of "Feedback", I decided that the "article" was a formal feedback form. so I copied my original message text into the feedback text area, filled out the rest of the form and submitted it.

If this was a bad assumption on my part, please let me know how I should have responded.

Thank you,

Ray

In lieu of AVG coming thru, just schedule some innocuous task in task-scheduler to happen 10 minutes after you have your scheduled scan set up IN the AVG program.  Have the task open www.avg.com - it doesn't matter - but set that scheduled task to wake the computer if need be.  Now, when that nothingness task runs, your schedule AVG scan will run.

When scheduling AVG AntiVirus activities (eg: Program Update, Definition Update, Scheduled Scan), the scheduling options are fairly complete EXCEPT, there is no option to "Wake Up" a sleeping or hibernating computer!  This can be important for users that have several activities (such as virus scan and system backup) that they would like to schedule in the off hours.  I know that the Windows Task Scheduler has included the "wakeup" option since Windows Vista (and possibly before that).

Right now, my work-around is a scheduled task that does NOTHING but run a dummy command and wake up the computer (if it needs to be awakened) 5 minutes before my AVG virus scan is scheduled to run.  I think you could easily do this wilh a little change to your scheduler since the normal AVG schedule options include "Run when computer starts up if task has been missed," (another Windows Task Scheduler option).

Would it be possible for the "Wake up sleeping computer" option be added to the AVG Virus Scan schedule options?

Thank you
