VPN affecting my email accounts

I have experienced problems over the last weeks when sending emails from my email accounts.    

I receive emails but when trying to reply OR creating a new email I could send them.  First I kept getting request for my password but then I received a msg my device had been blocked by the server due to Spam sending !!

Deleting the accounts and reloading did not solve the problem. Calling my email provider they could not solve as they don't own the serves !!!    I even updated one of my email apps still same result.  

After a few days trying I suddenly thought of AVG VPN application as it would request I switch on.

So I switched it off and BINGO emails can be sent now.   Whats the issue with VPN from AVG ?

Thank you for your quick response.   Unfortunately your Outlook and Mail page pictures are not as I have on my Mac ?   The only settings which I confirm are the same are Incoming Server IMACP= 993  and  Outgoing Server SMTP = 465 although these were greyed out and so I selected and both were set to SSL   On the MAIL account again your pages do not exist on my Mail program 

Outlook for MAC is version 16.36  and Mail Program on MAC is 11.5   I have now tried to switch off VPN (send test email)  then back on (send test email) and both worked  so maybe setting 993 & 465 was the solution ?

Configuring the outgoing email server settings to use port 465 should resolve the issue.
