I am finding that the vpn is blocking a few websites that I regularly use. How can I unblock these websites so I can use them without any further issues?

Could you try changing the location available within AVG Secure VPN program and see whether you are able to access the sites?

Audrey, double-click the AVG Secure VPN icon on your desktop to open the application. Please click 'Change location' and select a location (say P2P connection or any other) from the list to verify the status.
