Thank you, this has worked.
So the only question remaining is why I've had to uninstall/re-install?  Shouldn't it just keep working?

My VPN has stopped working with the error "The VPN server did not respond. Verify the server address and try reconnecting." 

Nothing has changes with any of my network settings and I can't see any way to verify the server address as requested.

I've tried re-booting, re-starting the VPN, different location etc but nothing seems to work.
