when usingAVG's VPN I usually use the TOR browser instead of my default Firefox. When trying for anonymous torrenting the VPN blocks my ability to connect to torrent sites. For this reason I probably won't renew my VPN membership. Please advise if this situation can be corrected for my USA location.

dont understand. I do not see this option on my VPN all I see are selection of different countries and only a few options of USA cities. P2P selection is not known to me.
