Hello Neo,
Thank you for contacting AVG Community Support.
We are really sorry to know that AVG Secure VPN is reducing the connect speed. We apologies for the inconvenience caused and will certainly check and help you out.
You may experience a slower internet connection when using AVG Secure VPN. This is because a VPN encrypts traffic and data before sending it to a server. Depending on the distance and capacity of the server, this process may cause a slightly slower, but safer, internet connection.
1. Check that your internet connection works when AVG Secure VPN is disconnected. If your internet connection is not working, check your network configuration.
2. Select a different AVG server location. Open AVG Secure VPN, then click Change location on the main application screen and select a location.
3. Select a different VPN protocol. Open AVG Secure VPN, and go to ☰ Menu ▸ Preferences ▸ VPN protocols.
4. Disconnect other VPN services that may be running on your Mac. If you are connected to another VPN, it is likely that AVG Secure VPN won't work properly.
5. Restart your Mac and try connecting to AVG Secure VPN again.
