W10 Windows Defender seems to be blocking AVG Antivirus updating

Hi,

Ever since the new Windows 10 update, my internetconnection suddenly stops. It's only on my laptop, rest of devices in the house still have wifi.

Last week I went to the shop and the problem seems to be that somehow the new update overrules AVG cq AVG is not compatible with the update. The technician at the shop removed all my AVG software and restarted my laptop. And yup! My connection/network was fine again.

I installed AVG again and it was all okay.

This evening I had the same problem again. From on moment to the onther, my connection and networksettings were gone. So I uninstalled ALL AVG again and sure enough ... Connection is back!

I am now trying to reinstall all my AVG products for the 2nd time but it takes for ever! AVG Anti Virus is installing for more than 20 mins now and its only at about 15% ... I still need to install al my other products.

This problem must be known by AVG technicians since my technician immediately knew what the disconnecting problem was.

How can I stop Windows Defender to overrule AVG or how can you make AVG "stronger" so it wont be overruled?

Regards.

Vanessa

Hello Peter,
I'm sorry for any inconvenience caused. Windows Defender should not block AVG Antivirus. However, please share a screenshot of the error message (UI failed to load) to assist you further. You can post the screenshot here on your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.
Best regards,

Juf, as informed by Alan, with Windows 10, Windows Defender was re-classified to an AntiVirus program which can conflict with AVG. I'd request you to disable Windows defender and install AVG.

It is generally not recommended to use more than one security solution on a single system. They will compete for resources, which may result in slowdowns, crashes or in no protection at all.

Peter, With Win 10 Windows Defender was re-classified to an AntiVirus prog which can conflict with AVG so when AVG is installed on your system, during the install process, Win Defender should be auto disabled.
